Nestled amongst the beautiful rolling Binyamin Hills in Israel's biblical heartlands, is the Beit El estate winery, which draws upon a rich Jewish cultural and spiritual heritage to inspire the creation of exquisite wines that yearly grow in popularity. This takes place in an area that has seen thousands of years of wine making. Today, at this site of a famous Biblical dream, modern dreams are coming true.

The winery, founded by Hillel and Nina Manne in 1996, on the outskirts of the thriving modern Beit El community, is built in proximity to the location of Jacob's dream, where the Bible describes the Forefather dreaming of a ladder extending fully to the heavens, with angels ascending and descending. Upon waking, Jacob thought fervently "Surely the Lord is in this place," (Genesis 28:16) and he then named the site Beit El, which in Hebrew means the house of God.

At an altitude of 850 meters above sea level, the charming ancient terraced slopes, which are full of incredible archaeological remnants from Israel’s ancient wine industry, including wine presses hewn from solid limestone, now once again contain lush vineyards. With moss-covered crumbling stone walls and millennia old watch towers all around, Rose garden, spices terrace,  one cannot help but think of the Song of the Vineyard that is found in Isaiah 5:1-7. It is not hard to imagine how the Manne's fell in love with this spot.

This enchanting winery currently grows seven varieties of grapes: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Marselan, Malbec, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and Carignan, with the hillside vineyards generating yields of around 500-600kg. per dunam, which is 5 tons per hectare. Here the yield is kept deliberately low to ensure only the highest quality grapes are produced, about two to three bottles per vine only.
